Apple may introduce an AI-enabled smart display in 2025

Apple is working on a smart home display that could hit the market in 2025. The smart display will come with a new home OS and support Apple Intelligence.

Last year, it was reported that Apple is developing a device that combines the iPad, Apple TV and Homepod.

According to journalist Mark Gurman, which leads Bloomberg on September 29, Apple is currently working on a smart display, which may appear on the market in 2025. It will be equipped with a new tvOS-based operating system called HomeOS. In the future, the OS will work on all Apple home devices, such as the Homepod.

Unlike the Homepod, a smart display must have enough processing power to support Apple Intelligence. The screen should also accept Facetime video calls, and you can use it to control smart home devices.

It should also run applications such as calendars and notes. The new iPhone standby feature gives you a glimpse of what all this might look like. In standby mode, the clock, photos, or weather are displayed, as well as incoming messages.

According to The Verge, Apple is already testing prototypes. The smart display can be attached to the wall using magnets built into the device. Exactly how this should look and work is still unknown.

Photos of Apple device prototypes appear on the Internet from time to time. At the end of last year, the Homepod attracted public attention with an unusual glass top that resembles a display. According to the portal 9to5mac, this is a real prototype of a new smart speaker.

It is not known what exactly is displayed on the display, but controlling music playback via the touchscreen is obvious. Additional visual content can also be displayed when prompted by Siri.

The current generation of Apple’s Homepod goes on sale in early 2023. Modern devices have a touch-sensitive upper part, which is highlighted in different colors. On the panel, you can quickly adjust the volume, pause, skip or return to a song, and activate Siri. As for the software, the devices run a modified version of tvOS, which has an Apple TV user interface.

According to Mark Gurman, another device-a display with a robotic mechanism that follows the user’s movements – with integration of Apple Intelligence and HomeOS can cost $ 1,000 or more. So it will be a high-end version of the simple smart display described above.

Other rumors suggest that Apple is working on a square display that can be controlled remotely using hand gestures.

In the company’s nearly 50-year history, Apple has launched several products that have failed. It is not yet known whether Apple will introduce a smart display and how it will eventually look and function.
