The novelty will definitely be available for sale this year. Apple has not broken this tradition for many years.
The estimated release date for the iPhone is September 16th, the end of 2024. Others, focusing on the trends of previous years, predict that the range will be between $1000 and $1400. This seems to be more likely than not.
In addition to the cheating of sellers and fluctuations in the exchange rate, as well as logistics and duties, we can see that the price for the most advanced model can reach up to $1,700 or more.
One of the benefits is the reduction in prices for older models. And if a new product fails to meet expectations and ends up being a “copy and paste” of an older version, like the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 were, then it’s even less worth overpaying for it.

Is this information verified? No, it is not. Even alleged leaks can be fictional. However, experts in the electronics industry still expect updates based on Apple’s technology and general work. Therefore, some of these assumptions may come true.
iPhone 16 and 16 Plus
Tamara and I walked as a couple – the difference between these models was only in their display diagonals, 6.1 inches (which could grow to 6.3 inches) and 6.7 inches. They would retain the traditional design, with an emphasis on improving the display and performance.
According to some reports, OLED displays with an increased refresh rate up to 120Hz are expected. This means we will have a smoother display of movement and a brighter picture. However, other sources say the update will only affect the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models, leaving the simpler versions at 60Hz
Energy efficiency will improve thanks to the new A18 Bionic processor. However, in the “lower-end” versions of iPhone 16, this improvement will be more limited.
Also, users of the fifteenth series have complained about overheating of the smartphone. In the sixteen series, graphene is likely to be used in the radiators to help remove heat, instead of copper.
The charging speed will be faster if the battery is able to “pull” 40 watts – now it is only half that amount.
The battery capacity will also be increased, but not significantly :
- iPhone 16 – 3,561 mAh
- iPhone 16 Plus – 4,006 mAh
The batteries in the previous models were much smaller: 200 mAh and 600 mAh, respectively.
What the iPhone 16 might look like
Traditionally, this is a popular question. However, there will definitely not be any drastic changes in shape.
But insiders say that some of the buttons on the iPhone 8 will be replaced by touch buttons with tactile feedback, which will vibrate when pressed. The silent mode button will also be updated, and a new button will be added for releasing the camera shutter, located at the bottom of the right sidebar. This is similar to the format of the key on the iPhone 7, but the technology has been improved.

This is about tetra prism technology, which has the main advantage of a five- or tenfold zoom.
If the battery is upgraded to the latest version, similar to that of the current Apple Watch, with a metal heat spreader and a graphene seal, it will not only prevent overheating, but also extend its lifespan.

The appearance of the product will not be changed, except for the addition of the aforementioned touch buttons with tactile feedback.
The Pro Max version could be called Ultra, by analogy with a smartwatch. It is a set-top box for the flagship Uber devices, with unique features that set it apart from all other models in the range. A smartphone may have every chance of receiving such a name if its screen diagonal reaches nearly 7 inches, and it only has touch keys, a new processor, and so on.
General innovations
The built-in storage capacity is likely to remain unchanged: 128GBGB – 512GBGB and 1TBB for the most expensive version of Pro Max (or Ultra?).
The camera is unlikely to be damaged, except for the lens coating. In the fifteenth model, there was a significant increase in resolution to 48 Megapixels, and there is no place to go higher.
Here’s what is sure to get updated:
- The RAM will be 6 GB and 8 GB for the 16 and 16 Plus models, respectively, and there is a possibility that the first two models will also be upgraded to 8 GB. Some estimates suggest that the memory could reach 12 GB, but for the average user, this will not matter much.
- Reducing the “island” – the black area around the front camera and face recognition sensors. Allegedly, this area will become much smaller, with the 3D scanner hidden under the screen. - Upgrade of microphones: In general, they are not affected now, but in windy weather, voice messages can be blown away. In the new version, we expect to have a noise reduction feature based on neural networks.
- The introduction of artificial intelligence: Samsung and Apple
- In April, Samsung announced the integration of Google’s neural network technology into its devices. Considering the upcoming June event, it is unlikely that Apple will fall behind in this area compared to their main competitor.
- The neural network will be incorporated into iOS 18, allowing Siri to fully communicate with users. This will include the ability to decode and structure text, as well as other improvements.
- Improved image post-processing will make them look even more beautiful, and if wide-angle photography is enhanced, the level of detail will increase.
- A variety of colors will be available, including bright shades of green and blue. However, each model (Plus, Pro, etc.) will have its own exclusive color options. This is important, as it will help others to identify your phone as the most expensive model.
- Free movement of icons is coming to iOS 18, even on older devices. Currently, icons are arranged from left to right and stick to the top of the screen, but this will change in the future. Users will be able to rearrange icons, but they won’t be able to place them anywhere they want. Android users have had this feature for a while, so they are not affected by this change.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst with TF International Securities, a subsidiary of a major Hong Kong-based analytical company, believes that the camera systems in the new model will feature tetraprism technology. This technology will enhance the shooting experience.
Jeff Pu, a technical analyst at Haitong International Securities, an investment bank and the first Chinese market maker, predicts an improvement in ultra-wide-angle lenses. We discussed this above: photography will be much better in low light conditions.
Oleg Kapranov, an expert at the Regional Public Center for Internet Technologies (ROCIT), has predicted the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in working with text and images. In June, Apple introduced these features in iOS 18, not only for the iPhone 16, but also for other devices running the operating system.
If you are considering whether to upgrade your device now, please keep in mind that the 16 and 16 Plus models are unlikely to offer significant improvements over the 15 Pro and Pro Max models, if at all. The 16 Pro and Pro Max, however, will definitely push the price beyond the current price ceiling. As a general rule, it is usually worth upgrading from the previous generation (fourteenth series and earlier).
