Sony: The King of TVs

Last weekend, the 20th annual TV Shootout 2024 competition was held, where calibrated TVs were evaluated by expert judges in a series of tests compared to the Sony BVM-HX3110 reference monitor.
For the first time, separate categories of OLED and LCD TVs were identified as part of TV Shootout. In past years, LCD models have lagged significantly behind OLED models, but LCD TVs also have advantages in some areas, such as full-screen brightness. Last year’s 8K category was abandoned this year.
According to the report Ecoustics.com Sony won both categories in the 2024 TV competition. In particular, the 2023 Sony A95L QD-OLED with a matte finish beat Samsung’s 2024 S95D QD-OLED, as well as LG’s updated G4 2024 MLA OLED. The Sony A95L also won the shootout with 2023.
Sony’s Bravia 9 (XR90) also beat Samsung’s QN95D by a narrow margin, while LG’s QNED90T took last place. The results can be viewed below.
In the near future, FlatpanelsHD will publish detailed reviews of the LG G4, Samsung S95D and Sony Bravia 9 models.
